Data Sources & Methodology
- National percentiles: U.S. Census Bureau Current Population Survey (CPS) ASEC, 2025 release (2024 income year). Quintile boundaries and top-5% threshold from Census Table HINC-05; remaining percentiles interpolated from HINC-01 income distribution data.
- Age cohort data: CPS ASEC individual income by age, aggregated into age brackets matching household-head demographics.
- State adjustments: Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2024 median household income by state, expressed as ratio to national median.
- Methodology: Values between known percentile points use linear interpolation. State-adjusted percentiles multiply national thresholds by the state factor before re-computing rank. All figures in 2024 dollars (pre-tax gross household income).
